Queenstown - November 21, 22, 23 and back again on the 28th
Queenstown is by far the greatest place on the face of the earth...there's no use disputing it, why even try. What's better? New York? London? Saskatoon???
The drive into Queenstown was jaw dropping with the mountains (aptly named The Remarkables) on one side and the lake on the other. Then there were all the surf/skate/outdoor stores that we knew we would lose our shirts in, and finally the bungee jumping/ jet boating/ rafting that we knew we'd shit our pants doing.
We checked in at Southern Laughter and ended up going out to an Open Mic night for cheap drinks and to listen to Kilmer and Adam play a bit. They rocked the house and outplayed the drunk guy from Chicago.
Day 2 began with jetboating, which pretty much knocked our socks off (if people still use that expression). Speeding at 80km/hr through a canyon and getting inches from the rock walls was cool...doing 6-8 360's was even cooler. After we got back into town we headed up the gondola for the luge ride of our lives. The view was amazing ans we suited up with helmets that were entirely too small. The first few runs were fun but we save the best for last when Adam sped around an Asian couple and weaved inside on the guy and outside on the girl. Andrew and I sat back and watched the girl scream in horror as Adam cut her off for the victory...while Andrew and I peed our pants
We made some new American friends, Matt from Texas and Patty and Michelle from L.A. These peeps were bunking with us and we quickly got to drinking and having a good time. That night we hit up World Bar, where the alcoholic beverages are serves in teapots..no matter how drunk you get, you still look classy.
Day 2 involved Andrew and Adam jumping the world's tallest bungee, the Nevis, at 134m high. We also went out to World Bar again and had more fun than should ever be allowed. Andrew and Adam rode a BMX, Matt got changed in the middle of the street, a girl flashed us and Mikey Connors for Dublin almost got hit by a bus.
We almost decided to stay even longer but instead headed for Dunedin. The girls would meet up with us again in Te Anau in a few days. We had our first travelling partners
